Tisdale will take the Robyn Lively role from the 1989 film “Teen Witch” in which an unpopular girl discovers she’s descended from the Salem witches and then uses her powers to get back at the snobby girls that shunned her and to win the heart of the captain of the football team.
Ashley Tisdale will be playing the role originated by Gossip Girl Blake Lively’s older sister. This makes perfect sense to me, because as I recall the original film the lead girl wanted the lead in the school play and it was a pseudo musical, so it’s really not that far from the High School Musical mold. Will this movie work outside the 80’s? Only time will tell.

The whole High School Musical gang will be in theaters this fall with High School Musical 3: Senior Year opening October 24. Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman are all set to return for the final High School Musical sequel.
Kenny Ortega will be back to direct HSM3 and will center around their senior year and the prospect of Troy and Gabriella going away to different colleges. The drama will of course be combined with preparation for the spring musical!
